An Afternoon with their Bowling Idols

7 October 2010 is a memorable day for our BOWLinks bowlers as they had the opportunity to meet up with our national and youth bowlers. These bowlers were greeted by our team at NSRCC Bowling Centre where they had the chance to obtain their autograph on the souvenirs and take photographs with their bowling idols.

Bowlers also obtained valuable bowling tips from our national and youth bowlers before and during the game as they commenced their bi-monthly bowling competition. Present on the day include Remy Ong, Jason Yeong-Nathan, Basil Low, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, New Hui Fen, Cherie Tan and 9 other bowlers.

Joining in the October’s BOWLinks bi-monthly challenge includes participants from APSN Katong, Handicap Welfare Association, Down Syndrome Association as well as representatives from new participating organizations, namely the Delta Senior School (DSA) and Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

A total of 11 teams competed in the October series with APSN Katong Team 2/HWA 1, HSA Team 1 and APSN Katong Team 1 coming in as the top 3 teams.

BOWLinks is SingaporeBowling’s community project that started in 2005 to allow children and adults from the special schools and associations to enjoy a balance of life, through bowling as a recreational activity outside their school/work and home. Besides coming together to compete in a friendly format, these participants also have the opportunity to meet up with our national and development squad bowlers and obtain bowling tips with them. This also serves as a platform for our bowlers to contribute back to the society.

The next BOWLinks bi-monthly challenge will be held on 11 November 2010 at NSRCC Bowling Centre. Stay tune for more event updates.
