Leisure Bowling Receives Strong Support from Corporates

Despite only this being the second leisure series of this new segment in the Canon SuperSeries 3 (2011), the turnout has proven this event has grown successfully in encouraging more companies to sign up their staff in promoting work-life balance.

Apart from participants from the 32 corporate teams in this corporate league, participants also brought along their colleagues and families to join in the fun activities and fun bowl organized for them.

A new feature first introduced in the second leisure series is the Wild Card game format where 4 participating teams have the opportunity to have our national bowlers including Canon’s ambassadors Remy Ong and New Hui Fen to bowl one throw for the team during the second or third game. In this series, apart from our 2 Canon’s ambassadors, national bowlers New Hui Fen and Benjamin Lim participated in this wild card format.

Apart from allowing our national bowlers to have more direct participation in this joint event by Canon and SingaporeBowling, it also provides more opportunities for our participants to meet up personally with our national bowlers during the games and allow stronger interaction for everyone.

With this month’s event themed after the Easter holiday, participants were also given the opportunity to participate in the additional theme activities that included “Most FANCIFUL Easter Egg” contest and “Guess The Number of Easter Eggs”. Bunny girl was also present to take photos with participants and supporters and encouraged all present to join in the Cup Cakes Decoration Contest.

This month’s Leisure series also sees more supporting teams such as Dentsu, Verztec and SingHealth coming prepared to immerse themselves in the fun festivity in the bowling centre with their clappers and pongs-pongs.

Dentsu Singapore - The Best Supported Team

SingHealth who started participating in Canon SuperSeries 3 (2011) last month have committed their presence for all four leisure series this year as the Captain Kamaliah, Bowling Team Manager for SingHealth Polyclinics feels this platform allows staff bonding and networking beyond their group apart from using this as a training platform.

“Some of our team members maybe new to bowling but they have a strong passion for this sport. They are open to join in this event and look beyond it as competition but a training ground beyond the regular training we have.” Said Kamaliah.

The three teams from Dentsu Singapore can be seen truly enjoying the game. With a strong team of supporting colleagues, they cheered one another during the games with their clappers and pong pongs. “We feel this is a good event after our first participation last month as it provides an excellent platform for staff bonding. Hence with a stronger sign-up by our colleagues including some of our Japanese colleagues, we were able to form 3 teams this time.” Said Ms Phyllis Adrienne Choe, Human Resource Director of Dentsu Singapore. They also won the Best Supported Team award for this month for their efforts to cheer one another during the game.

SingHealth with their ‘bunny ears’ head gear won the Best dressed team outfit and were also the winner for the “Most FANCIFUL Easter Egg” contest.

The leisure series will resume on 24 June 2011 at Orchid Bowl, SAFRA Yishun while 20 May 2011 will see the first Competitive series for Canon SuperSeries 3 (2011) targeted at the more competitive corporate bowling team at SAFRA Tampines. Sign up early to avoid any disappointment.
